South Africa has, Finalysis recognises, a particular need for a consultancy service in Banking and Treasury - for the following reasons:
- Continuing high Interest Rates
- A highly volatile Rand, generating significant currency exposures for corporates.
- Relatively restrictive exchange control regulations, which can impede best currency practice
- South Africa is the home of many major domestic and global corporates
South African banks enjoy some of the highest margins among Western banks.
Given this environment a Johannesburg office was established in October 2003. Three senior consultants staff the office: Louise Sherwen-Slater, Ron Gevers and Ian van Emmenes. Using their banking, regulatory and exchange control knowledge, they represent a complete and broad based skills set covering; corporate banking, financial modelling, financial risk management and quantitative analysis and are thus excellently placed to advise corporations on their banking arrangements.
Finalysis South Africa also draws on the international experience of its parent, Finalysis Ltd (Ireland) and its sister company, Finalysis UK Ltd.
Early marketing to the commercial sector and to universities has been successful and Finalysis is currently engaged in a number of major studies for leading plcs and universities.
